4/3/98: a reader, yotaru

Machine: PB2400c/1.3GB/80MB, One month old (bought in March, 1998).

Problem: Without any notice, the machine started to going to sleep right after starting up or restart. Although the machine wakes up by pushing some key, then the machine goes to sleep again. Strating up from an external MO drive did not solve the problem.

What I did: I took it to an NCR quick-garage (one of the most famous repair service provider in Japan) in Akihabara. The staff told me he had never seen like the problem before. The reparing took for a half day.

The cause: The sleep switch located in the hole for the latch button had been kept the sleep posion, and not been able to return to the normal position.

Repairng: exchanging of the palm rest unit.
