What is so good about Duo? -- It is Docking System enables Duo to use
as desktop machine!
With the innovative docking technology
'PowerLatch', Duo can dock with DuoDock quite easily. Like a video tape
sliding into a VCR, you can easily insert your Duo into a Dock and it is
ready to use in a few seconds.
The specification of DuoDock was changed as Duo is evolved.
Ealier model was released at the same time as Duo210 and 230, when the main CPU was still 68030, so it gave much better performance with built-in FPU than Duo system alone. Since HDD can be built-in, DuoDock provides various use such as storing unnecessary data for mobile use and back-up disk for Duo.
Market price was \220,000 in 1992. (How expensive!)
The later model released at the same time as Duo250 and 270C is available for color Duo with a front rid to prevent dust and a new top cover. (Since color Duos have thicker display, earlier DuoDock is not suitable for them.) This new top cover is also sold separately, so it is possible to replace it by yourself.

DuoDock2 was released at the
same time as Duo280 and 280C. The difference from DuoDock is that DuoDock2
has 32KB cache and Ether port at rear as default.
Market price was \160,000 (a little cheaper than DuoDock).

Looking carefully at
the photo left, the upper is DuoDock and the lower one is DuoDock2 from
their back, you can see something like a rid on DuoDock. Perhaps it was
planned at first to equip Ether port to DuoDock, and it had to be given
up because of cost...
Anyway, this Apple's futuristic R&D view of networking is really
admirable!
DuoDock Plus was released
for Duo2300C. It does not have FPU and HDD since Duo2300C originally has
them.
It was sold as open price (\100,000 in 1997).
